Seeking Enlightenment
Souls move toward the temple…
others move away
each seeking truth
and enlightenment.

It’s no secret that my life took a decisive change at the beginning of 2017. I resigned from working in retail management to further develop my art skills and work as an intern at Down to Earth Farm.

It has been four months since I decided to leave my job and be a farm intern while following my creative calling to paint. In the past, I took pride in being able to accomplish a lot in a small space of time.

Nightfall in St. Cloud (above) by German artist Gabriele Munter was painted in 1906. It was part of an installation French Moderns: Monet to Matisse, 1850-1950 at the Cummer Museum this past summer.

It has been a year since I made the decision to change the way I was doing life. I had spent the last 24 years in retail management and worked for three different companies over that period of time.

Trading my retail job for an internship at a farm has given me the opportunity to become part of a new community fondly known as my farm family or “farmily.” Our conversations sometime turn to discussions of tastes in music.

I was gifted a pack of micron pens at Christmas. I decided to pack them with some nice drawing paper on my trip to QuiltCon this past February. I thought I may have some extra time to explore drawing with them and I did!
