It’s no secret that my life took a decisive change at the beginning of 2017. I resigned from working in retail management to further develop my art skills and work as an intern at Down to Earth Farm.

I am the artist-in-residence for the Civic Orchestra of Jacksonville this season. I paint to music, and my mission was to translate Camille Saint-Saëns’ Symphony No. 3 “Organ Symphony.”

Life is full of distractions. Too often we allow the shoulds, as my friend Mimi calls them, to rob us of time that could be better spent.

QuiltCon is the largest modern quilting show of its kind, and 2019 took us to Nashville, Tennessee. What in the world does an abstract oil painter do at a quilt show besides show support for her quilter?

In my last post, I talked about intentionally recreating the woods that form a backdrop for a field of flowers at Down to Earth Farm. While the background dried, I contemplated my next step.

My 91-year-old mother is a musician. She played piano and organ at our church in New Philadelphia, Ohio until Alzheimer’s disease robbed her of her abilities.
